Mission Statement
The Montana Catfish Association was established in the spring of 2006. The direction we will go from here is entirely up to you. Our main objective is to promote the sport of Catfishing and specifically Catfishing in the great state of Montana.
Montana is a state not commonly associated with Catfishing. Montana Catfish Association would like to change that perception. Great Channel Catfishing is available all over the state; Fort Peck, Yellowstone River, Missouri River, Milk River, Musselshell River, Powder River and the Tongue River Reservoir just to name a few.
Catfishing is a rapidly growing sport. Tackle, rod, reel and boat manufacturers can no longer ignore the Catfish angler. There are numerous professional/amateur Catfish tournaments held across the country. Montana Cats encourages everyone interested to compete in these tournaments. Catfish tournaments have added legitimacy to our sport as well an increased knowledge of Catfish behavior and tendencies. In the future we support a 3 or 4 tournament Montana Catfish State Championship circuit.
The primary purpose of this site is to increase communication and the sharing of knowledge between fellow Catfish anglers. We would like to work closely with Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks to further expand the sport of Catfishing. Did you know that Channel Catfish were stocked in only ONE fishing establishment out of 672 stocking opportunities. We would like to dramatically increase that number. We also encourage "Catch and Release" or "Selective Harvest" whenever possible.
So we welcome everyone to our website and if you have any suggestions on how to improve the site please drop us a line.
